	Our Ford Kuga Review This has been a winning formula for Ford, a value for money family SUV with a choice of 2WD or AWD, good looks, great standard specifications, and the best of Ford’s diesel engines. The suspension is based on the Focus (with a wider and longer chassis) but the Kuga ride is 8cm higher, and front McPherson struts give a great comfortable ride. The 2WD is as popular as the AWD - due to price and lighter handling. Whilst not being in the roughie-toughie end of the market, this car delivers admirable capability with a focus on family comfort. Visibility is excellent (the higher driving position adds safety of vision over heavy traffic) A-posts don’t get in the way and rear visibility is unusually good for one of the smaller SUV’s on the market. The quality of cars coming of Ford’s Saarlouis plant in Germany is evident here, not only in the solid feel of the car, but also with a tidy interior trim with solid fitting panels, intelligent dash layout, and high quality seat fabrics. A great towing car with Ford’s diesel engines - more fun to drive than a traditional 4x4 and still capable on rutted, muddy tracks. A common criticism seems to be road noise (specifically tyre noise) which is a shame as this car really was designed for road driving! However, you don’t get SUV capability without some of that and it is probably a decent pay-off. Owners forums indicate the 2.0 TDCI standard engine will average around 40-42mpg with a hefty mix of town driving and longer distances. Speed makes a big difference wit the engine lugging this weight of car, regular trips over 50mph will drop the mpg to around 40, under 50mph will get you loser to 46-48mpg with sensible driving. The latest model range has added the Titanium X specification to the range - giving you 18” alloys, full leather, rear spoiler, b/tooth, LED day running lights, powered adjustable driver seat, heated front seats and a panormaic roof - the total package. It isn’t big but it IS value for money and it IS well designed and well built with up to date design touches.
